The Latin American Coatings Show continues to be the largest coatings event in Latin America for raw materials suppliers and equipment manufacturers for the coatings industry.
The Central American paint and coatings market was estimated at 1.38 million tonnes in 2008, of which Mexico accounted for about 1.1 million.
The market is highly influenced by the activities in end-user industries such as construction and automotive. However, the Mexican market has been well insulated from countryspecific shocks by the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). The agreement has allowed the country to gain institutional stability due to its affiliation with the other two dominant economies of the region. This has provided higher confidence to the investing community, which proved to be favourable for Mexico.
Overall growth in the Central American paint market, including Mexico, is placed at 3.1% pa for the next five years.
