Evonik is participating at MECS 2020 with two business lines: Coating Additives and Crosslinkers and both will launch new products to the regional market during the exhibition.
From Coating Additives, Evonik launches SPHERILEX® silica wet chemistry technology, Foamex 9 defoamers and ZEOFREE® 600 anti-snail trail additive. From Crosslinkers, it will be launching Vestanat MF series of hybrid silane-siloxane-isocyanate hardners and Anquamine® 721 & 728 curing agents.
New products this year from Biuged Instruments Co Ltd include: The Xenon Test Chamber (New) BGD860, the Pfund Cryptometer BGD298, the Continuous Condensation-water Climatic Chamber BGD875 and the Cyclic Condensation-water Climatic Chamber BGD876.
The BGD860 is a powerful, highly cost-effective, easy to use and convenient to maintain xenon test chamber. It uses an air-cooled xenon lamp and daylight filter, both imported from America, to simulate a more lifelike full-spectrum sunlight, to ensure the test results obtained from the laboratory have a perfect correlation with outdoor applications. Furthermore, the samples holder is designed with a special rotating drum to ensure each sample can obtain the same uniform irradiance throughout the whole test.
It meets all standards requirements from different fields and can hold 22 samples. It also not only has spray function but can also control the relative humidity of the working room. The operator can set all the required test parameters: irradiance; test time; BPT; BST etc, through the touch screen and can check its running status at any time. All running parameters can be exported to a computer directly through the USB interface.
The BGD 298 Pfund Cryptometer offers a simple and accurate method to test wet film hiding power or determine the thickness needed for complete opacity. It can give estimates of coverage in square metres per litre and is suitable for use with coatings containing pigments.
Improved grinding with Niemann
Wilhelm Niemann will present the Kreis-Basket-Mill®-RS at the Middle East Coatings Show (MECS).
The new machine belongs to the category of basket mills and is especially suitable for the production of pigment pastes, industrial coatings, flexo printing inks and other products that are difficult to grind.
Managing Director, Frank Niemann is proud to be the first manufacturer on the market to produce an immersion mill with annular gap technology. The first series machine KBM-RS 411 has 45kW driving power and a container volume of 800lit.
The Kreis-Basket-Mill-RS offers all the possibilities of a classic basket mill and extends these with the advantages of the annual gap technology, with which the finest grinding up to nanoscale is possible.
Due to the low grinding chamber volume, up to 60% less grinding media is required. The grinding media movement is made by a rotor with pins, whereby an extremely high energy density can be achieved in the annular gap.
The optimised ratio between the cooling surface and the grinding chamber also has a positive effect on the process times during the production of products that are difficult to grind.
The slim grinding chamber makes a high energy density possible and immensely improves the cooling ratio. In contrast to the classic basket mill, up to 60% of the required grinding media quantity can be saved.
For some polymer materials used outdoors, experience indicates that the corrosion caused by moisture (especially by condensation) is more serious than any other factor. So, testing coating film resistance to humidity is an important method to evaluate coating corrosion resistance.
In order to meet the needs of different fields and customers, according to different standards, Biuged Instruments has designed and manufactured two new products.
The BGD875 Continuous Condensation-water Climatic Chamber offers a test condition for determining the resistance of paint films, paint systems and related products to conditions of condensation in accordance with the requirements of the coating or product specifications.
It is applicable to coatings, both on porous substrates, such as wood, plaster and plasterboard and non-porous substrates, such as metal. It provides an indication of performance likely to be obtained under severe conditions of exposure where continuous condensation occurs on the surface. The procedure can reveal failures of the coating (including blistering, staining, softening, wrinkling and embrittlement) and deterioration of the substrate.
This tester is fast, easy to use and affordable. It uses 100% condensing humidity to simulate and accelerate damage caused by rain and dew on metals, paints and organic materials. It accelerates natural exposures by increasing moisture temperature. The tester replaces water immersion and ordinary (non-condensing) humidity tests.
The operator can set three different working conditions: humidification, natural cooling and dry and its corresponding temperature and running time. the programme, including total test time and cycle times can be set freely.
BGD 876 Cyclic Condensation-water Climatic Chamber is designed according to ISO 6270-2 Part 2. It can give much better supplements and explanations for degrees of corrosion and defect types of coatings used in different environments. Compared to single-sided exposure, this method adds a condensation atmosphere with alternating humidity and air temperature and is mainly used to evaluate a paint’s anti-corrosion ability under different environments.
